“You’re nobody until somebody hates you. I’ve also been a lot more concerned about fans than critics. To some extent I put my fans in the top spot, even above myself. Nothing against critics; I read magazines and I read blogs and listen to all kinds of critics to figure out what kind of music is out there that’s good, and what I want to listen to. I respect a lot of people who have never really gotten what we do. And maybe someday they will. That’ll be a bonus. But as long as our fans keep coming out to our shows and buying our record, I know we’re on the right track.”

I hope many of you have the chance to go see the guys on their Spring tour!

One of my close friends, Ashley Hall, is going to see them in Louisville on April 24th, and she is putting together another Fray scrapbook to give to the guys. She will be giving it to them personally as she is taking part in the meet-and-greet. “We wrote that song about The Berlin Wall and the division it represented in regards to one unified city becoming two cities still under the covering of a country. They’re both German, but in a sense, they were as far from each other as they could possibly be. I think that’s how our relationships can be sometimes. Not to sound cliché, but we all as people build these walls that don’t really come down until someone comes into our lives, tears them down, and says, “Enough!” Isaac Slade, about the song “1961”, which personifies the Berlin Wall as two brothers that are at odds with each other.
